I'm curious if anyone has investigated the cost of replacing locks on pre04s with the 04 ignition & lock-set. It's one of the few changes to the S2000 that I really like.



If it's not ridiculously expensive, I'd consider doing it.

 

Not sure what ridiculouse is but 06350-S2A-A03ZA is LISTING at $440.55 which is a complete 04 lock set.

 

What is the "wave key and ignition"? Is it just the new key design, or does it work differently?

 

Wave key is the new honda keys cut in a wave pattern, versus the old style like we have. Supposed to be harder to copy, and create locks harder to pick.

The picture above is not what the American '04 clicker looks like. The '04 is the standard Honda four button; lock, unlock, trunk, panic.

You do get one key that is like the one above, plus another with the wave design but no S2000 badge.

 

I'm going to contact a local dealership to see how much labor is involved in replacing the ignition.

 

Will the transponder be a problem?
