What I meant by more "civilized" is that on my friends RX8, the car feels more powerful with the traction control off. I was wondering if the S2000 was similar in that it feels like it's dummied down like the RX8 is.

I hope my questions don't seem redundant or like they've been asked a million times. Thanks for all of the informative responses. This thread will help me decide which MY to get when I return from my deployment.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the other thing that came with VSA and DBW was an e-prom ecu that could be reflashed. If you plan to go with some kind of forced induction or even heavy n.a. upgrades (including larger injecters) then a re-flash from Hondata (or others) might be an attractive alternative to a piggy-back fic type system or a stand-alone replacement ecu like the AEM. The piggy-backs only address fuel, not timing, and don't adapt as well to various driving conditions. Stand-alones are expensive and require more $ for really good tuning.

My last car had a dsm turbo drive train and an e-prom ecu. That particular software was 10 years old and was widely hacked. A fellow sig board member did reflashes for cheap to free. I went through 4 eproms in three years to handle various upgrades in IC, boost, CR change, injector changes, etc.

Yes, I believe that to be correct.

I have the Hondata re-flash myself...great mod!

I thought the 06+ heavier then the 04/05MY and I remember reading that the Pre-04 were even lighter. I think the pre-04 may be lighter then the CR with the radio and AC.

The S2k has gotten fatter but not gained any power. Honda can BS us with the whole "it's maxed out" crap. Whatever. Nissan was able to put a more powerfull engine in the 350Z and drop some lbs. too. You don't see that too often. MAN UP HONDA! I bet if they went direct injection with the F22 they could get more power. MAN UP HONDA!

Sweet. This has turned out to be a more informative thread than I imagined. Even answered questions I didn't even have yet.

My right foot is all the VSA I need. You should try it sometime. If you want loads of computers telling you how to drive, why don't you buy a Mercedes.

and yeah, they could get more power with DI and ITBs or something like that, but i dont think they can do that without investing a fair amount of money.
People always seem to miss that every decision is a compromise (cost/performance/reliability/etc). Yes, anything can be tweaked further but is it really worth the cost and are consumers really going to eat the added costs when passed on to them? I seriously doubt it when it comes to the S. just look at the CR. It hasn't been the big hit that some people thought it would be. If Honda's statement that the S was maxxed out was total BS then we would definitely have a lot more cost effective mods out there.

Brilliant. You do know that there's a VSA off switch, right?

The point is, there is almost no need to ever have it on in the first place, douchecanoe.
