Default MY05 S2000 "Redesign with obligatory power boost"

Has anyone seen a more recent PRE-view of the 05 model S2K? I've heard of power boost, hard top version coupe, renaming it S-2200 to 05 being the last model year........

One other question? What month do the new years cars show up on the lots? I'm assuming that the month prior is the best month to deal on the older model......yes????

Yeah, I don't see any more changes being made. Maybe color options, but I doubt even that much. And last year? Surely not. I bet it goes until 2010. At which point the S class Honda will hibernate ... and with fuel the way it is, probably for good. Or until they come up with an accepted power alternative.

Every preview of the car states that it's getting a power boost. (3 sites) It's got me hesitant to buy the 04 in July when I could wait for the 05 if the power does increase.

In fact 05 being the last model year has been quoted more than once also. (motortrend)

Do you think they'll throw in a price spike?

they will release a new version of the s2000 the same time
they release the type R......

come on people....this is all ....they will not be doing any real changes to the car for 3-5 years.....period.....absolute fact.....

Different color options maybe....but no changes to the mechanics of the vehicle....they just spent 10's of millions of dollars to update the MY04....THEY WILL NOT BE DOING THIS AGAIN SOON.....

It makes no business sense....they must amortize the cost of updating the MY04....this will take a couple of years at least.....feel safe in knowing there will be NO changes before MY07(if it is still around)

Phud,
Good points.........well taken. I hadn't thought about all the money that was spent to change the 04. Your probably right about them keeping the current set up.
You mentioned that Motortrend is right every 5 years....well it's the 5th model year.
My intent was not to kick a dead horse, but to see if anyone has heard, read or have a link to a more thorough Preview of the 05 model. Were are you getting YOUR information? All though it makes sense......so does "Redesign with obligatory power boost". The extent of the redesign could be very small. Just a thought.

The single most reliable source for Honda news (that I know of) comes from http://www.vtec.net/

Check out the rumors and news link.

I concur with CrazyPhuD. From a business stand point changing the car after a single model year is pretty much unheard of...in fact I can't think of a single car where that is the case. The closest I can think of is the WRX changing its headlights after only 2 years. However, they did that to increase sales by altering the appearance. Mechanically the cars are the same. The new MY04s can't stay on the lots in most places, why change it?

How long has the new mustang been listed when it changed in 79. 79 released. 87 major front and rear body change. Still basic shape. 94 major change. 99 basic body cover change. Yes horsepower changed but look at the style of car. Finally they say a major change in 2005. Who knows haven't seen one built yet. Camaro followed some of the same aspects of change. I think the S follows in the same catigory. It will be a couple years before anything. How long did they say the camaro was going to last. Started saying it would be gone by 1998 then 99 then 00 and now 02 an finally it is out. Took them long enough. I think the S still has strong sales for Honda and will be here for a few more years.
