Default My2002 Vs My2001

Has anyone heard of the planned changes for the S2000 in 2002? I browsed the Honda site in Japan and saw images of the S2K coming in 'blue' along with an image of a 'Spa yellow' S2K with the red interior (don't think this is a current combination option). Can anybody confirm these changes for the USA 2002 distribution? Also, anybody heard of an official commit by Honda to have a MY2002 in the first place?

On the Honda Japan site I'm also seeing alot of mention of the S2000 'Type V' which apparantly incorporates VGS (Variable Gear Steering wheel). Anyone heard of this before?

PS: The official name for the blue exterior color is 'Monte Carlo Blue' (kind of a darker blue)...

Hey there, as for 2002, the only things we know for SURE right now are this. The current Silverstone Metallic is being discontinued, and will be replaced with two colors, Satin Silver, a lighter color of silver, and Suzuka Blue. The Monte Carlo Blue has been out in other markets for a while, but not in the US. The Suzuka Blue is a decidedly different blue from that color. Hopefully by the time 2002 comes out, the accessory subwoofer will be available, with rumors of a tweeter set also becoming available. So not any big changes.

Don't forget that the 2002 comes with the BBS wheels, S03 tires and improved interior.

Thanks for the correction Nimbus.. all the other Hondas and Acuras use that Satin Silvver name so it's engrained in my mind. Oh yeah.. and the Type V is not available in America, but it's an interesting feature I've only read a little bit about. I guess it's hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, it can really enhance the handling of the car.

Thanks everyone for your timely responses. From what I'm hearing it looks like the changes are minor but still intruiging (i.e., BBS wheels (hopefully 17's), subwoofer + separates, and a few more color choices (anyone have a picture of the blue?)). Now all I have to do is find a dealer in California offering MSRP on the 2002's when they come out...

Thanks
