I used to get 300 miles per tank on my 01 ap1 all the time, as well as 30mpg (cruise at 70-5mph) highway. With my 06 Ap2, I've gotten a best 27mpg highway, and have yet to reach 300 mile tank. My mileage really went down when I traded in. Gonna see on this tank how close I can get, but 300 miles feels like a dream with this car.

sub 3k shifts, cruise at 2.5k. i don't know man. the same driving style nets me 24mpg in a van that usually gets 17mpg...so i'm pretty sure my driving habits are fine. i'm thinking its the "hit every red light and stop sign" deal + lights are about 2-3 minutes in length...
I shift around 3-4 usually just cause the trans. shifts better at those rpm's, cruising for 75mph is around 4k i believe. I dunno I still drive around the city a grip and i live in l.a. so traffic up the a$$.

Maybe have your car checked out as far as tune up items, unless it really doesn't matter as far as the mph you get if 24 is good enough. Im still more surprised by the fact that my 18 year old integra still gets 28-29 mpg, then the s2k getting 28-29 lol.
How is this possible!?!

If DVC got 330mi in a CR, I'm pretty sure mine should too! Valves have been adjusted, toe is near zero in the rear, air filter is clean, oil is fresh, spark plugs looking good, no air, windows up...maybe it's the diff oil since it's slightly more viscous but that doesn't explain it all.

I have NO clue haha, but I driver a faster then normal in my s2 then I normally would in any other car. I don't grandma the car either and I doubt the type of oil for engine/trans/diff would effect the mpg much or at all. Then again I rarely hit vtec since most of the time I can pass up most cars without much effort in the car. I always hear why don't you drive the shit out of the car, usually my answer is why drive the shit out of it in l.a. where traffic is everywhere when I can just save it for a track event haha.

And I don't understand why people think they driving "aggressively" on the street in traffic is particularly "sporty" of them.

I commute 104 miles per day, 95% of it on the highway. How exactly am I supposed to be having more "fun"? I do see people driving like jackholes all the time, stabbing the gas, stabbing the brakes, changing lanes at every opportunity, and generally not making any more progress through rush-hour traffic than I am. I bet they're getting far worse mileage, but that doesn't mean they are having more "fun".

Never understood the comments about how people *should* be getting poor mileage on the street in an S2000, or should be driving a Prius.

In terms of fun, I do have my share (psychoazn and a few others guys from the S2k Challenge can attest to). More than likely that since a lot of us drive fast on the track, we tend to drive slower on the streets. What's funny is that your gas mileage goes down as you get faster on the track. If you're anywhere greater than 9mpg, you're not driving fast enough However, 60% surface streets and 40% freeway nets me 21-22mpg. Going through Grapevine with a fully loaded car gets me 24-25mpg going north and 25-26mpg going south. My best tank thus far was coming back from the Bay Area on the 101 netting me 29mpg+. Generally, my car sees about 21-22mpg with the occasional 23mpg regardless of what I do.

Yup... low 20's all day.

Last tank was 25MPG... which is what the EPA rated the car for on the highway with the new system.

I'm pretty easy on the car from day to day although it usually hits vtec every time I drive it and I will be doing my share of autocross and maybe some track time.

Lol, I have fun driving that car normal or fast doesn't really matter to me. Just having the car and being able to drive it gives me a smile on my face all the day long. I already know what the car can do and what its capable of so I can always save it for a actual place/event where I can drive the crap out of the car safely for my own peace of mind.

So I can drive normal on city streets and freeways and still have a smile on my face.

Funny thing is I've driven back from the bay area in the car and that was PROBABLY my best tank also, I actually drove that thing till the tank light came on which got me around 350-360 on the tank. I probably could have gotten more technically since the gas empty light doesn't really mean it's empty.

Yea for me I want to relax while im driving around l.a. since it's stressful enough with the traffic and drivers around here, there are plenty of chances to drive fast in safe area's.

The same could be said for buying a convertible, stripping out the softtop and then bolting a hardtop on, Evan

People also think its sacreligious to drive the S in the rain/snow...
