Default N/A Modifications

I am new to the board and am intersted in just improving power with bolts on's. Doing searches has found a bit of info. What I am looking for is what works and what does not. Massive stuff dedicated to forced induction, what about us who just want to make more power the N/A way?

These are generalized questions about what kinds of products to get for your car and thus, doesn't belong in UTH. Moving to S2000 Talk.

you will not gain much in the form of bolt ons. the 04-05 is also a bit harder to make power on due to the fact that it runs about .5 to 1.0 points leaner than 00-03 S2000's.

in order to make any real power, you need to ditch the ECU for something like the AEM EMS and start from there. this will require tuning.

The car already makes 120 HP/liter (F20C version)! I find it amazing (not to mention ridiculous) that people hope to just "bolt on a few mods" and make even more power.

the ture question would be do you want more power or do you want to be faster......and do power numbers on the dyno matter to you or not..

well...considering a lot of people are netting about 20 rwhp with just an intake/exhaust and a vafc i would say it's not so hard to make a little more power over stock.

for example...my current setup is:
-comptech intake
-buddy club condenser
-T1R test pipe
-T1R exhaust
-Apex V-AFC

i have an appointment tomorrow afternoon at Church Automotive to get it tuned. most stock S2Ks make about 190rwhp in bone stock trim...i'll post my dyno results and you can make your own conclusions from it.

My previous honda was a 92 hatch dx that I had swapped a jdm b18cr into. That motor has similar power per liter. With I/H/E, underdrive pulley, jun flywheel and CM stage 2 clutch I was able to pull a 13.98 et at 99.7 mph at 5700ft altitude all motor. Hondas are nothing new to me and while I appreciate your comment I am looking to get similar performance out of my S. My last car was an IS300 had to trade it in....there is nothing like VTEC.

Bone stock,and properly driven,it's already a 13.7-13.9 car.
For more,bolt on a SC,and gears!

First of all, we can give better advice if you let us know what your budget is. With that being said, here's what I would do...

Go with the AEM V2, J's header, Amuse or J's titanium exhaust (for weight savings mostly), and a test pipe. Use the AEM EMS and a dyno to properly tune it. Then throw in some 4.77's for better acceleration and you've got yourself a well tuned street car. It will still be very reliable and a lot faster. After that, you'll have spent around $5000. For around $3000 more pick up some 16 inch Volks and sticky tires(or you could buy my wheels, check my sig). This is pretty much retail pricing for brand new, and installing all parts yourself. You can save some cash by buying used. Since you have an 05, I wouldn't replace the clutch and flywheel with lighter components until they need replacing (unless you can afford it).

This is pretty much a proven NA combo that will net positive results. We haven't even discussed suspension tuning yet (I'm not not sure if you want to rip up mountain roads or destroy the quarter mile). That will take more cash, but will help you use and control your newfound power.

Good luck. NA all the way. God save the queen. Etc.

I am over 4500 ft altitude. I have to make up for that first.
