well not really slow you down. theoretically you'd accelerate quicker, you just need to make sure your actual speed is up to par. because you may be revving quicker, but not reaching set speed any quicker.

i havent done the mod yet, but what i mean is just normal driving under 3000 rpm shifting, the gears are already so short that before you know it you're in 4th gear doing 40.

Have you done the AP2 clutch delay mod? Might be your issue if you're experiencing clutch slipping.
I thought if I did this I would not be able to stay in VTEC from 1st to 2nd...

i have an 8.8lb comp clutch flywheel and its definitely noticeable. rev matching takes a lot less effort. i found myself revving the motor to high before i got used to it.

I have the Comptech flywheel and I really like how it makes the engine respond when shifting and heal-toe'ing. It makes driving more enjoyable. I haven't noticed any acceleration increase however.

well for what it's worth, i've raced my buddies 3.2Cl-S 6mt a couple times before i put in the flywheel, and a couple times after. I pull a bit harder on him now since the flywheel. I figure since there is less rotational mass in the drivetrain when you install a light weight flywheel, you get less parasitic loss. I'd assume this means more power to the ground. Exactly how much? I have no idea.

For you guys that are saying that the gears won't get you to the same speed as fast : Have you seen the video that's around with the two S's racing? One has gears and one dosen't. It's obvious that the one with gears was much faster or at least accelerated much faster.

i tried to watch it. but its not working for me. im sure they work well. my only concern would be that the already short gears would be even shorter.

So your "butt dyno" did not notice any difference?

Whoa, thread full of newbies, I/H/E w/ 4.77 or 4.57 gears and lightened flywheel will make a whole new definition of sports car for you. Do it, and you will be very very very happy.
