Need advice on a Rebuilt S2000

Looks pretty ruff..Do you want to put in the time and money to rebuild it or do you want a derivable ready to go s2000. I would go a bit lower due to that carfax; or at least inspect under the car; I bet the sub frame is bent, a arms ect. With that type of crash many people will leave the bent parts on and the car will never be the same.

I don't mind a little work but want it to be functional\drivable while I make repairs\upgrades. Last car a bought looked ok until i had to have hole in frame repaired, floor pan replaced, lower trailer arms replaced, fuel pump replaced, fuel line, rotors, calipers, header, cat coverter, shift linkages. tbh I actually enjoyed doing all that. It became a solid car and better than almost all the Del Sol's I seen in the area.

This probably is not the car for me. I am not sure what to look for as far as frame damage so that thought kinda scares me because the unknown. The Del Sol in the pic had a front end collision but wasn't totaled and happened 13 years ago. So I was more confident in that purchase.

Thanks for the advice guys and helping me avoid a huge potential headache.

Good choice! With the amount of care put into the bodywork (sarcasm) and the recent history of being towed the mechanicals are surely in much rougher shape.

Now, where's this guy located so us guys looking for a parts car can scope it out

He said it was towed recently due to a timing belt tensioner. Yea Body work is a huge turn off for me. I dont have the skill set required to fix that.
Located in Connecticut.

This is why pre purchase inspections exist. Ask in you let local sub form what a good shop that is familiar with the s2000 is near you. If they aren’t really a body shop find another shop that can inspect for that as well. Having rolled the fenders on a lot of these I have seen some real shit body work and what sucks is it can be easy to hide. Sounds like your passing on this car which I think is smart. First thing I’d do on that car is through those wheels in the trash. I’d rather have higher miles but fewer of these unknowns like the accident or the mechanical issues. If the engine goes pop shortly after your spending everything you “saved” on a used motor and install. Same with other major parts. Hell even a lot of minor stuff adds up really fast on these. There is clean title s2000’s out there that are on the cheaper side or repaired ones that at least have documentation of what was fixed and how.

"Parts car" best describes this car -- assuming the engine and drive train are in good condition.

I'm not sure what parallel universe you 're finding "clean S2k seem to be prices around 13,000+." Yeah, $20,000+ is technically $13,000+.

With this exhaust and a cat-delete the car ain't gonna pass CT (or any other state) emissions so there's work to be done before you can get tags for the car.

I loved it. It was a great car but I out grew it. If I wanted more powered I would've needed to do a swap or turbo the d16. I opted to sell it and save for s2k
