Thumbs up need a good radar detector

just looking around for a radar detector and i think I've narrowed it down to the Escort 8500 x50 or the Bel RX65, but im open to any other suggestions.
Anyone here use either one of these two or any other good models?

you'll find that most are either using a Valentine 1 or the Escort 8500 x50

there are pros and cons to each

V1 awesome unit but about three hundred bucks and can not handle pop

x50 no arrows and $100 less expensive

V1 is worth it...

Especially if you keep it for quite a few years...

I'm going on about 4+ years with mine and NEVER leave home without it, no matter what car I'm driving -- it goes with me.

I own both they are both eyualy good although i give the edge to the V1 its really

nice to know which direction the threat is coming from. I have had my 8500 for

about 6 mos, so its to early to tell about reliability. Im on my second V1 and have

never had a problem out of either unit. I have NEVER gotten a ticket using the V1

and thats been over 10 yrs. I have only had my S 6 mos and im using the 8500

in it for now. So im still kinda checking it out, so far so good. I feel like Valentine

will have to come out with something better in the near future or they need to.

there current model is aging some. In buying one i would spend the bucks and get

either the 8500 x 50 or the V1. Its not having to pay the ticket, its the points on

your driving record and increase in insurance rates.

Hands down V1. There is no comparison. It's the only one that you can see which direction the squeel is coming from and that is alot better than just slamming on the brakes and looking around everywhere with the others. Not only that, it gives a signal count that shows exactly how many signals it's picking up. More than one signal of the same kind lets you know that it's bogus. No more slowing down for grocery store doors and the like. Go to their website and check it out. I'm sure it will convince you.

I have the 8500 and love it for road trips, but I got a ticket a month or so ago, by laser. Pretty much you will never be completely safe. Those lasers are tough to beat.

What do you guys think g the Escort Solo S2? Thats what I have, I got it becasue I did not want a long power cord laying around. I did not know how easy it is to wire a rader dector so if its a good idea to upgrade to a better dector I can. What do you think?
