There have been a few threads about this. If I remember right, you just need to pause between shifts before you throw it in 2nd. The clutch/flywheel is still spinning, and the pause allows it to get stopped.

Also, when you pull from first to second, try keeping the shifter as far left as it will go. This was recommended to me from another member and I no longer grind.

This happened to me when I first got my '02 S2k a couple of times but never again. Hopefully you'll have the same experience. You can always shoot up to 9K and go to 3rd (joke) - HAVE FUN

Yes, my '03 has had the second gear grind occur about 5 times. My dealer refuses to acknowledge that there's a problem.

I have found that when I'm shifting fast, and get a 2nd gear grind, I usually started to pull it out of 1st just a tad before I put the clutch in, and therefore my hand beets my foot to 2nd. If I wait till clutch is fully depressed to pull out of 1st, no grind. Hope this helps

make sure the clutch is pushed in all the way before you select the next gear.

I've never had the 1st to 2nd gear grind, but I have a totally different scenario, a 2nd to 3rd gear grind. It doesn't have the grinding noises, but i feel a grinding sensation in the lever, more like i just hit a spinning bar of some sort. I've tried all sorts of things to see what the problem is. For example, my hands getting a bit more excited than my feet, so I made sure to push the clutch ALL the way in. That seems like it WAS NOT the problem. It also seems to be inconsistant and occuring more often when the transmission is cold. If i wait for about half a second to shift into 3rd gear, this "gridning sensation" does not occur. Has anyone else exprienced this? Can someone please enlighten me on what's going on? I'm very concerned about this. Thank you.
