Currently I own a 2000 S2000, an 84 Porsche 944, and a recently purchased 69 Mustang coupe. I believe the time has come to grow up a little and get rid of the car collection. It's getting too expensive a "hobby" to maintain. I started with the 944 and a Prelude, then traded the Prelude for a down payment on the S. The 944 developed some problems and, although driveable, too expensive to repair. Mainly, I'm tired of sinking money into it. The mustang was to be the new daily driver as the stook is mainly my fun car (no bad weather, etc.). It all worked out OK until recently with huge market declines and unexpected expenses, I feel I should not own this many cars anymore. After all, I'm a 25 year old single guy who doesn't need to hall stuff or families. My main problem here is I'm VERY anal about my cars, but especially the S (ask Sondra and the Orlando group). I want to keep it in pristine condition to use as a daily driver later on when I have a "real job". Currently I'm a senior accounting major in college. But I'm trying to tell myself "It's just a car and it's not worth all this fuss." HELP! Do you all think I should get rid of the other cars and keep the S, or stick it out until after I graduate and move?
PS- If I do sell the cars, any offers are welcome as I know the cars would go to good homes with this bunch of people.

Wow. 3 cars while in college. I'd definitely sell the other two and just use the S2000 as your daily driver. If you can't bear to use it as a daily driver, then I would have to say sell it and get something that you don't mind driving on a daily basis. Don't let your possessions own you.

Sell the Porsche and the Stang and get a beater pickup that you don't care about if you don't want to use the stook for a daily driver.

Thanks guys, I guess I just needed to hear it from someone else. So what is this car like as a daily? Am I going to be OK with it? I've driven sports cars my whole life, so the space/maintanence issues are no problem for me. I'm used to dealing with them. I just don't have experience with this car as a daily (3000 miles since I bought it Jan'00, 14 months ago).

I would say sell the 944 and the Stang and buy a Civic as a daily. You are obviously like me (anal) about the car and you probably won't be happy driving it all the time (dirty).

I bought mine Dec '99 and it has 1750 miles. I just didn't get it out last year as much as I'd like to.

My $.02

The StooK makes a great daily driver, but I would agree to sell the other two and get an old B210 or something like that which you won't mind banging around Gainesville in. I wouldn't want to worry about my StooK in Hogtown.

Meat - 1750??? Good grief, man. You don't even KNOW the car yet!

Meat, how did you manage not to drive your car so much? I've owned my car for 3 months, but only driven it 2 (it was in the shop for a while) and I've just past the 5000 mark.
BlkS2000, my car is mainly a daily driver, EXCEPT in inclement weather, that's what the accord is for. If you sell both cars(Stang and 944), you might as well pick up a beater with some luggage space such as an Accord or Civic sedan, those aren't worth too much these days and the 94-97s were a good year for those cars.

Autoex, there were lots of factors involved.

First, the S2000 is not my daily driver. My '96 Teg has over 122,000 miles - it gets most of the work.

Second - I don't drive the car in the rain, unless I am on the way to/from a track event.

Third - The car is stored in the winter.

Fourth - I wasn't able to attend some track events last year due to prior engagements.

I did manage three track events last year in those 1750 miles, so that was good.

If you must sell the Porsche and Mustang, get a Civic or something to drive daily! I've seen you in action... you'll be at the window or walkin ghte parking lot all day the like a nervous parent the first day of kindergarten, watching for "strangers" and door dings!

Believe me, the beater is the way to go... My Accord is the mall car, the bar car, the grocery cart target. I came out of Walmart last night to find TWO carts into the side of the Accord... no dings, but can you imagine how freaked I'd have been if it was the S??
