Default Need help with Factory Horn

I installed truck horns a while back. I originally had one which i had directly connected with the horn of the car where the relay is. They both sounded when i pushed on the horn. Then I decided to add another truck horn. When I did that, the factory horn stopped sounding. I just took both truck horns off, due to me going to upgrade to a new system, and my factory horn is not working. Does anyone know how i could trouble shoot this problem or if they have any idea why its not sounding.

Thanks

Maybe you blew the fuse? Have you checked it?

You blew the horn fuse that is located in the black box near the battery. Read the legend on the lid. It'll tell you which one it is.
If you run high draw horns, you should run the relay off the stock horn circuit and use the relay to draw juice directly from the battery to power the horn.

Check the main under-hood fuse/relay box. This is the black box in front of the battery.
All directions are as if you are looking at the box from the front of the car, facing the rear.
The horn elay is the right-most of the three relays on the left half of the box (Honda reference #10), second row of components from the rear of the box.

xX<---fuse #47

Fuse is #47, 15 amps, also supplies brake lights, cruise control, high mount brake light, horns (both in '02, '03 cars). This is located in row 4 from the rear, second from the left.

If your brake lights, high mount brake (?trunk lid) light works, then the fuse should be OK. You can visually inspect the fuse or use an ohmmeter to confirm.

If the only thing that doesn't work is the horn, then either the horn switch is bad, or the relay contacts are broken or burned.
Check the switch first. You should hear the relay click when you depress the horn switch. This would tell you that the horn switch is functional.

To check the relay contacts, you need to check to see if +12 volts comes out of the connector to the horn when you depress the horn switch. No voltage means that the relay contacts are bad. Change the relay or check the contacts with an ohmmeter after you pull it out.

The last possibility is that since you installed the horns yourself, check the connections and make sure you didn't short out something. This would also blow the relay fuse, (again if you put in a new fuse, if you don't fix this problem first).

To test, can i use another fuse there. I know of the fuse you are speaking of since I had to wrap around the horn wires there for the aftermarket horns I used. It worked fine with one in it originally. I guess when I added the second horn, it could have caused a problem. There are two fuses which look the same next to the horn relay fuse. Can I change it out to see if that starts to get it to work.

Thanks

checked the relay fuse, it seems like its fine. I switched it out with another fuse and it still didnt work. Also, my brake lights work fine. What else can it be.
Thanks

Odd. It's fuse #47 under the hood, right? (10A in the middle of a cluster of 3, second row in from the fender) You shouldn't be trying it with both horms. The wiring may now have been overheated and it simply won't take the load. Try just a single horn or just the stock horn.

When I took off the aftermarket horns, nothing works. Changed the relay fuse, still nothing. The fuse we are talking about is the black one right. Its like a small box. Thats where I had the wires for the aftermarket horns. If I connect my aftermarket wires back to that fuse, the horns work but not the stock. If it was overheated, is their a fix. Is their another fuse for the horn alone. not the realy fuse(black square one)

Hmm. There are two things that you need to look at. So far, I think you've only looked at the relay (square box shaped thing). Did you check the actual fuse that I described in my last post?

xviper, where would that fuse be located. I checked the service manual(I dont have my owners manual here at my job) and couldn't find a fuse which stated that it was for the horn. Is this fuse in that black box or is it under the drivers seat. Do you know by any chance the number on the fuse box so I could check it. Thanks again
