Default Need Help finding out about 06-08 Reflash

I'm currently looking at buying an 06 s2000 and I want to reflash it. Trouble is I've read posts on here that people couldn't reflash some 06 ecu's. I went to hondata and they listed the ecu's they could do it to. That's great and everything but the car I want to buy is 200 miles away and the owner doesn't know what an ecu is.

After telling the guy where to look, all he came back with was this # S2A-A03. If you look at hondata's page, their # looks like this --37820-PZX-A09 through A14. You guys with s2000's know what I'm talking about. Did he not read it off the barcode??? Need some help if anyone's had some experience with the 06 reflashes. I don't wanna buy it if I can't reflash it. I'll just look for another.

Thanks for the help!

Hondata has an ecu (computer) reflash which will lower the VTEC engagement point (which increases power). It also raises the rev limiter from 8000 to 8500. It will be my next mod.

I hope this helps

the 06+ S2000's can be reflashed (manipulate the ECU). i.e lower Vtec/raise redline.

since you have an 05, it doesn't really concern you.

you can do the same by getting an Emanage ultimate, which piggy backs onto the stock ECU features. you will need a tune if you do get the Emanage.

according to hondatas website it depends on the the code on the ecu. if the last 3 portions of your ecu appear to be the same or in between what hondata says it should work. the reflash was introduced for 06+ because of the dbw system which is solely relying on electronics/computer.

Right, so the last 3 digits on the ecu that the guy gave me are A03. According to hondata's website you need A09 to A14. Thats my problem here. Can't reflash this 06!

Did the owner give me the right #??? Do you need to remove the ecu to get the barcode ecu #? He said he just looked at it and got it. I appreciate the feedback guys!!!
