Default Need help with Modifry garage door opener mod

I wired up this mod earlier this week and it didn't work. I then had someone who worked on computer boards come over and help me do all the soldering, and we hooked it up, same problem - Does not work.

This is what I have. It's a Sears garage door opener with the rolling codes. It has 3 buttons, and has a 3 volt battery in it.

We have the button I need to use bypassed, and when I put the battery in the unit, it opens and closes the garage door (without pressing a button)

When hooked up to the cruse control, We get about 2.65 volts at the opener (but it doesn't open the door).

I then bypassed everything, and hooked it up to my fusebox. I get right at 3 volts, it still doesn't work.

Could I have an amperage problem?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Does the garage door opener work from under the hood (where it wiill eventually be mounted) with the battery installed?

I'm just wondering if you're getting a strong enough signal to penetrate the sheet metal.

I am sitting in the garage right under the opener. I disconnect it from the car, and put the battery in it, and it works. It's got to be something weird with the voltage, or amperage

Have you checked that you have the + and - hooked up right?

I need to hang out at the hardware store more. I didn't even know there was such a beast as a 3V battery.

Yea, I checked, double checked, and tripple checked it.

The garage door opener and remote is about 5-6 years old. The battery is about the size of a quarter.

Anyone with any other ideas? It just doesn't make sense!

Do you have the car running when testing it? If not, then you could have hooked the power up to a switched power source, so the remote won't get power unless the car is on.
