Default Need Help!! (ticket)

OK here is my story, it is pretty long but please read:
I was driving west on Interstate 44 around 2 am on the 1st of Nov. in Oklahoma City I was in the right lane when the car in front of me started to kick up sand and rocks. I merged first into the middle lane and then proceeded into the left lane to make my exit north on 74. There was a black BMW that came up behind me really fast.

The only thing I can think of (you're in a tough situation!!).....is to fight it in court!! Make the cop show up to the hearing. Also, did you get the license plate of the BMW as a witness?? It's too bad you didn't have a pocket voice recording device!!

I think there are some Attorneys that visit this site often enough, maybe they can give you some good advice!

Good Luck! I feel for ya...that really sucks!!

How fast were you going? Did you signal for each lane change? What was the basis for pulling you over? Speeding? If so what did they use...Radar? Laser? VASCAR? If reckless driving, were you swirving or were your lane changes erratic? check out this link for more info, but get a lawyer.
Good luck

I was going about ten maybe fifteen over. They didn't write the speed on the ticket so I don't know for sure. They wrote reckless driving on the ticket but I wasn't swerving or making erratic lane changes. I think that they presumed that I was racing just because of my car.

That sounds like your way out of the ticket. Incomplete evidence...that is if the speed is required on a reckless driving ticket. Make sure you point that out to your lawyer

Anyone ever taken a ticket to court? Also how much on an average would it cost to hire a lawyer?

you must weigh the short term cost of the lawyer against the long term cost of increased insurance and other problems that occur with points. IE if you are ever driving reckless and get caught you are less likely to loose your licence or worse go to jail if you do not already have any points.

Go to the best attorney that you can afford. If you can't afford an attorney, go to court, and read the post you just wrote, word for word. It is an excellent testimony.

The outcome will depend on the Judge. Usually, good attorneys know which judges are more understanding with this type of situation. Sometimes you can reserarch this information on your own. Then you try to schedule your day in court with the Judge that you want.

Good luck!

They do not need to put the speed on the ticket for reckless driving. It is based on the cops judgement that you were endangering yourself and others on the road. As others have stated get an attorney that specializes in traffic court for your area (this is important). The fact that you don't know how fast you were going could mean that you were going faster the 10-15mph over. Which you probably were since you accelerated to change lanes and the car can pick up speed fast.
