Need more headroom in Houston, Texas
I have been in love with the S2000 since I first saw it and have been looking at it each year since. However I'm about 6'6". I have read about the conversions that people have done, and I would think installing some thinner seats would be the best idea for me. The issue I have is spending $33k on a car and not knowing how well I would fit in it. I was wondering if anyone out there in the Houston, Texas area that has height issues as myself, that has put some aftermarket seats in there car or managed to lower there seats. And if there is would they mind letting me sit in there car.
I've been looking at a bunch of cars. You name it and I've tried it. I am currently looking at getting a 2005 Mini Cooper S next year, mainly because I fit well in it. Though I would love to purchase an S2000 if only I could find a way to fit comfortably in it, because it would be may everyday driver.
Any help would be great. Thanks,
Ben
By the way, everyone always says how great it must be to be tall. Well it sucks when you love sports cars.

I'm in Houston as well. Great town for a convertible but I don't know much about that as my top never goes down.
Here is the thread on lowering the driver's seat:

This would help you get a few inches and the other option is a hardtop. The hardtop supposedly gives you an inch or two more clearance vs. the soft top but I can't speak from first hand experience because I have yet to purchase one. One thing though that I will mention, that I didn't know when I bought my car and wish I had, is that should you decide to go with a hardtop your best bet is to purchase it the same time you buy the car(assuming you buy new and your financing) because you can add the cost in to your financing and pay it off monthly. The thing I would be most worried about if I were you, although the seat lowering may take care of this as well, is your knees being cramped up against the dash. Have you test driven one yet? How did you fit?
Good luck with your decision. You won't regret the S if you go that route.
