Need Some Advice.
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this.
So I have been lurking on this sub for a while and buying an s2000 has really become a dream of mine. I saved up quite a bit of money and started shopping around for s2000's around the area in hopes of making it my spring summer daily driver. I also wanted to work on my car and hopefully learn allot from it as well. I stumbled onto this car right here:
https://newyork.craigslist.org/wch/c...516107926.html
The faults according to the owner are:
Needs Body Work
Need Fluids Changed
Needs New Roof
Drivers Chair has tears
The car is a one owner car and he daily drove this thing for years. He has maintenance records going back to 01.
After talking to him for a while he said he would take 6,250 as his lowest.
What do you guys think? How much would it cost to bring this guy back up into good/great condition?
Is it worth it or should i spend 10 grand and get a car with same miles but cleaner?

Just by looking at the pics you posted you will need a new driver's seat or cover them with Clazzio covers, you will likely need a new headlight as the tabs are broken and you may need some headlight support brackets. The front bumper cover will also have broken tabs and damage from the minor hit and the car appears to have quite a few small dents and scrapes so a repaint would be in order. It also needs a new soft top. I would consider the amount of work that is needed and if you are willing to take on a project like this, it would certainly be rewarding in the end. Good luck.
I think it would be wonderful if someone brought this S2k back from the dead and gave it a new life. It would be a fun project. But, if you can find a car for 10 that needs nothing, (which I frankly doubt), I would say spend the 10. Seems to me that you will have a lot more than $3,750 into the repairs on this car even if you do all the labor yourself.
After looking over the listings in your area, if I were in your shoes and had 10 grand to spend, I'd probably be focused on this car instead:

With only 108K miles that is a really good deal if everything checks out. 100K is barely broken in!
Agree with member above. The S2000 is a great car but unless u are very well mechanically inclined and know autobody work. I would stay away fram an s that has been hit or with signs of corrosiin in the body. You dont want cheap shotty work done. A well maintained S with 100k miles in my opinion is a much better deal than one with tears ,rust and imperfections. It tells a little about the way the car was possibly maintained, or driven. Test drive both if u can. See how they feel to u. I would guess that higher mileage one, would still be driving smoothher overall. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
