I don't know the safetey ratings, but insurance for me was only $5 more a month than my 2000 Accord. They're both either high, low, or in between.

Your insurance company should have the injury statistics and comparisons to other cars. I've seen a summary sheet and, for example, our cars are way safer than a Ford Focus.
