Default negative effects widebody kit

i was just wondering if applying a widebody kit would actually have negative side-effects on the suspension system (stock/aftermarket) on the S. I heard that the increased offsets will acutally cause strain to the suspension and increase the rate at which you might have to replace it.

thanks for your input and help!

I dont see why running a lower offset would ruin anything? As long as you have enough room to clear brakes and no rubbing issues anywhere I dont see a problem

Im sure he is referring to the hub and bearings.... and to answer the question it does have a negative effect on reliability of those parts, but nothing to the point of noticing

you will be placing more stress on your diff and slowing your car down with the wider wheels required by widebody kits.

In addition to what SpeedxRacer and Nightcrawler7188 have said, the larger tires that are typically used will have higher rolling resistance, and the wide body will punch a bigger hole in the air, so it will take more power to achive the same performance level you could achieve without the WB setup. Suspension tuning is also mandatory if you want the car to handle properly after going WB. It's something I'd only consider if the car was making so much horsepower that I needed the rubber that the WBK covers, then the WBK would be appropriate. Otherwise, it's just bling, and will reduce both the cars performance and its reliablity.

if you can afford the bells and whistles of a WBK i would think suspension prematurely failing would not impact your financial standing toooo much?
