"NEW" 2004 purchase advice
sorry... i did not mean "O" miles in the literal sense... just that it only has the normal shipping/dealer prep miles... something like 8 or 12. the car is in fact a "new" 2004. it is flawless. i'll try offering the 26.5 as some have suggested. it's snowing, the last day of the month, and well... it's snowing!
people need to remember to look at the 'deal' not just the purchase price. What is the ultimate victory for a car salesman? For him to take you to the cleaners and you be happy about it...Loan terms, lease terms, trade invalues are all easy to get ripped on when you *think* you got a good purchase price. This is also why, other than straight cash deals purchase price is useless.
Hmmm....here's my experience.
I live in Northern VA and in 2004, I went to the dealer and looked to buy another S, as I liked the newer model a bit more. As a note, I always approach dealers with the following statements to set the tone:
1. I don't plan to trade in a vehicle (they often rape you on this).
2. I do not need a loan, I will use my credit union.
3. I care only about the best price you can give me, as I won't hesitate to leave and find the price I want elsewhere.
Now, to cut to the chase, in the summer of 2004, I went to a dealership in Northern VA and was offered the car at $28,400. As far as I know, this is a pretty good deal.
Since it is 2005, for a NEW 2004, technically you should find a better deal. Basically, it's still a 2004 (regardless of miles, if any) and the year is 2005, so the year depreciates a year in value. If I was in the market now, I'd shoot for 27k flat, but that's me....
Oh yeah, my car came with 1.3 miles on it (I'm pretty sure this is exact). One very early morning, at around 5am, I drove around and happened to go by a dealership where I saw a new S being backed off a truck. I went home, got my stuff together, went to the dealership at 8am and bought it. Never test driven by anyone else I'm sure, just the way I like it!

Why don't you think of it in these terms... If you bought the 2004 from dealer, drove it home, and immediately listed it for sale, what would you expect someone else to pay you for a 2004 S2K with less than 500 miles?
So with that said, I recently picked up a 1 owner 2004 with 2500 miles for 25K. I thought this was a good deal. I consider this to be as close to new as you can get for a titled car. So, if life is fair, you will pay more for a "0" mile untitled 2004. :-)

He payed $195 for wheel locks and $695 for "fabric sealant", and $2000 for "market adjustment"! And that was before the financing... Beware!

If you can get 2k off the '04 vs. the '05 why not? The cars are identical (from what I understand). Minor issue is the resale/trade in at some time in the future and the 2k would probably cover it. Meanwhile you keep the cash.
I would think 26.5 to be unreasonably optomistic for an untitled and undriven (< 50 miles), undamaged car. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

It can not hurt to ask. I paid 27k for my 03 brand new. I had to drive to ohio to get it but it was a good deal. Walk in armed with your check book. If they know you are seriuos they will be more willing to work with you. Good luck.
