New to board
Hey everyone, I've been reading this board for the past few weeks as my enthusiasm for this engineering marvel has continued to grow. I live in the D.C. area and was wondering if anyone from there has a good recommendation of what dealership I should look into first? I'm at school (Virginia Tech) for the next week and won't be able to hit the dealerships until then, but I saw that Brown's reports stock of 2001 S2k's on its website now and then. If I manage to find an S2k on dealer stock, can I expect to pay less than MSRP? Thanks for any help guys. This would be the first car I'd get for myself (I'm putting every last dime I make over the next two summers towards this car, I think it's worth it) and can't wait to cruise around in this thing (I presently drive a '95 Land Rover Disco... can't really cruise in that per se... but it's nice when you see RWD sports cars stuck in a foot of snow)

Carmax in Dulles VA has a 2001 Yellow with 2,000 miles for $33,500 I believe... mint condition. They offered me $26,500 on my 2000 Silver/red with 15,000 miles... I told them to shove it.

Hey guys, thanks for welcoming me to the board.
What I was referring to was the kind of inventory listing some dealers have on the net. Anyone, even if you're not in the D.C. area, if you could help out that'd be cool. The URL is as follows:

Dealer claims price of $32,740. Is this just a ploy to get you to show up at the dealership and then jack up the price to $35k? It's my first car buying experience and starting with a car that's in high demand is a little rough
Thanks in advance for any help.

I know that Carmax sales reps have no room to change/negotiate car prices.
So if the car is $33,500, you pay that plus additonal charges such as tax, title, tags, etc.
After checking the site, I dont see the Yellow one anymore.. but their are 5 othere ranging from $31,998 to $32,998.. and they also ship all cars between dealerships for free. So if they have one if MD you want, they will bring it down.
