New Civic Si Hatchback
Looks like he did hit a tree (or at least he hit something along those lines)...I don't see any indication that the car was hit by another vehicle; from the damage I'd say he spun over a curb or ditch and hit the tree passenger side rear w/a little hop.
Driver probably blamed it on the SO2's
<it's a JOKE!>
A RWD car may be easier to spin, but it's still very easy to spin a FWD or AWD vehicle...I've done it on just such a damp road in a Subaru FWD and it happened so fast that I had spun twice and stopped off the road (minus one of the all season tires) before I had time to react.
I'll post a scan from our local paper on how to drive w/FWD or AWD vehicles in bad weather tonight...should be enlightening on those arguments about the S2000's handling

Since I owned a 99 Civic Si, that pic really hurts.
BTW, since only produced for 2 years, 99 and 00, and having a strong demand, the Si's depreciation factor is considerably better than the s2k (Northeast market) at resale. Because of this, it was very favorable to turn the 99 Si for my 01 s2k.
Now that I have one, I wish they'd end production. Selfish huh?

I kind of hope the guy did go backwards into a tree, at least then the seat would have absorbed the impact rather than his safety belt - big Ouch!
