Looks like a Throw-Out bearing to me. It is what presses on the "fingers" of the pressure plate when you step on the clutch. Not replacing it any time you have the pressure plate off is a big no-no. It's one of the cheap insurance pieces, normally not that expensive. Also the bearing may be different than the stock one if the pressure plate is different.
