Default new comparison

ok, haven't seen this thread yet though they may exist...

New Mazda RX-8 vs. S2000?

Renesis Rotor vs. conventional?
Kickass sound vs. not so kickass (rx-8 w/ autopilot)?
250 vs. 240 (both w/ 9000 redline)?

Nuff said? (i don't think so)

i think the rx8 looks badass, minus the bump near the rear of the car that gives people in the back more room. I think if they made it a 2 seater, it would look and be sweet. I guess they wanted to target a more passenger friendly car that is also a little sports car.

RX8= Unknown reliability of renesis engine. RX7= (At least by history) not very reliable.
S2000= well, it's a Honda. "recommended" by Consumers' reports, most bugs have been worked out.
Enough said.
Cheers,
Daniel

I read today that the RX-8 with the 250 hp engine will start at around $22,500, assuming the yen conversion stays put. IMO, it's a nice looking car and will no doubt be a big seller. Mazda intends to sell roughly half of the production in the States.

I don't like it better than the S2K, but it will definitely get a lot of attention.

I think the S2000 because it is faster, convertible, and handles better..

dynos of the rx-8 have come in around 170s-180s from what I have read on other boards, which is less than the s2k and the rx-8 weighs more. I dont know about handling but i thought the rx-8 is supposed to handle as well and brake better than the s2k. Is that true?
