New Comptech CAI...... PIC!!!!!!!
Clayne if you bring in dyno-proven power, removing the stock airbox and bolting on a filter to the TB will net MORE power.....with the hood open on a dyno. But last i checked noone drives with the hood up. Thats why alot of the dyno #'s are really all subjective. Was the stock intake filter dirty & old ? This distorts results as well.
If you want to make the most power on a dyno, it's going to be something along the lines of a filter-less tube w/ a big air horn. Thats it. But I dont see alot of dyno-queen S2000's, so i can't see anyone really wanting to do this.
IN THEORY, If you want to make the most HP on an S2000 in real life you have to pull air through the bottom/front of the car. (NOT under the car, and not in areas where the air is moving up and over the car, such as the headlight or hood)
That said, who cares? Fighting for 1-2hp over another intake is personally not worth it, nor are the possible hydrolock worries. An S2000 owner with a motor that see's alot of maintaince such as newer plugs, a clean air filter, regular oil changes will probably make more power than the avg. joe who got an intake. I personally look at an intake, (for an otherwise STOCK F20) for better throttle response, sweet engine note, and the belief that it will produce just a little bit of power, all the while not comprimising reliability issues, such as hydrolocking, because for a 20-30k car, i dont want to be afraid of puddles....

I could care less if it has carbon fiber everywhere.
