Default new engine

i was curious does the 2002 models have a little more spunk than the 2000 year model? just wondering because two weeks ago i went through a flood and hydrolocked my engine, leaving the insurance company to pay for my new one but with 500 deduct..anway...its 5900 for the engine and i also had a supercharger that they think was locked also,...the estimater guy took that down too and it came to 4400 or 4200...so i will either get a new supercharger or have it rebuilt and get some money back SO i was pretty much just wonderin if the 2002 model was a little quicker...thanks .
HOpefully i will have my car back by the end of next week, so he is shootin for, and they have been true to me so i am lookin forward to it!!

so another question: Since it will be brand new, how many miles till it is broken in? and am i not supposed to hit vtec until it is broken in? My dad was sayin i should go into vtec because if its there you need to engage it...he doesnt mean race it, just to got to 6500 and thats it. SO... your answers are greatly appreciated

(hope you guys understood this, i seem to have a problem with my stuff being readable)

Man, should look into doing that to my S. Got 70,000 on the engine, time for a new one
1. AFAIK, there is no performance difference with the later engines.
2. You should definitely allow the car to break in before going into VTEC land. I believe it was 600 miles for MY00 and I don't think its different for the later models.

I've heard that back to back dyno runs show the 2002 and newer engines to have a few extra horses at the wheels.

Do a search, and you will see.

I've read on someone's posts that the ecu for the newer models (02 and 03) were different, thus making a few more horses. I'm not sure if this is true or not.

They say that the newer engines have the 4 holes oil bolts and this reduces friction which increases horses.....makes sense. Break it in right, don't exceed 5500 rpm until you've put 600 miles on it.

If the dyno plots and tests are as reasonably accurate as they seem, the hp difference is seen with later model ECU's and not with the engines themselves. My best guess, without looking at A/F maps for each year, is Honda has leaned out the maps just a tad for a few extra ponies. Besides, we always knew they were significantly rich up top.

Actually, in our data logging on the dyno, we found that the 02 runs more timing than the 00/01s. That is likely the increase in HP.
