Default New here......

Well I'm New here just saying hi , I traded in my 2004 Subaru WRX for a 2002 Suzuka Blue S2000 on wed. You might think I'm crazy about trading in my car so soon, well I was hit with Subaru's famous transmission problem, and my dealership would not fix it. I accidently grinded 4th gear (everybody makes mistakes) and my syncros in 4th messed up, so my rational decision was I couldn't deal with every little mistake equaling a problem. So now I'm a proud owner of a Honda once again (had a civic before my WRX).

I have heard of the problems with the S2000, but they are not as wide known as the WRX tranny, I would have to say there are more problematic WRX's out there than S2000's. I knew of 4 people where I lived had problems out of about 20 WRX's in town, that's about a 15% failure rate, Subaru's WRX tranny is worse than the S2000. And alittle grind when the car is cold is nothing compared to the fear of your tranny grenading under you. And plus I have seen that Honda has taking alittle bit better care of their warrenties than Subaru. No car is perfect but I see the S2000 being a better quality car that is going to handle alittle bit more than the Subaru's tranny.

edit: Forgot to say that my dealership didn't fix my transmission under warrenty, said that the problem would not appear in legal speeds, problem occured at 75 mph. Which is funny people get denied about this, but when a gear breaks or something in the lower gear, subaru says you dropped the clutch.

Welcome esracer!

What you've mentioned is a little troublesome, because I'm about to get rid of my '02 S2000 in exchange for a WRX. My S2000 tranny has the infamous "2nd gear grind when cold" issue, and I can't stand it any longer. I'm going to scream if I run into similar issues on my next car... Wish me luck!

Well don't be worried, I think it's just a bad batch of transmissions, it is enough to make a recall, but subaru won't, but there are also many more guys out there who don't have any problems with their transmission, just whatever you do, do not drop the clutch never do that lol. Thanks for the welcome
