Default New here

Hey guys, I'm new to the boards. Just wanted to drop in and say what up??? I just recently sold my DSM and am in the process of finding a local s2000 with a decent price. But, before I do that, I was hoping that I could get some feedback from you guys. I have been a DSM guy ever since I got my license. The only thing I know about Honda's is that they are reliable. I'm no stranger to forced induction and modding, but every car is different. Every car has it's limits and so on.
I was hoping that someone could give me pointers on the s2000 inside and out. So when I do end up buying the car, I won't look like an idiot.

Thanks,

-Saeid

Also, if you are married, don't smile too much just before you pull out of the garage and take off. You don't want your wife to know how much you truly love this car. Pretend it's like your mistress and don't pay a whole lot of attention to it when she is around. When she's gone in the house, let out a loud yippie and do one of those crazy white guy dances just before hugging the damn car and leaving with that smile big enough to get any red-blooded american man in trouble. Have fun and enjoy the ride. Wecome to the club.

Where to start? Having owned and been around my fair share of DSMs I can tell you that were talking about two completely different cars. I'm not sure exactly what you want to know ,but the obvious is. I'm assuming you owned a GSX or TSI, so there the first difference, AWD vs RWD. If you plan on going the forced induction route, there will be some similarities in things you need to watch for. AS I;m sure you know the tranfer case can be a be weak spot on a DSM when you really start to to push the HP. From what I have read the differential is the S will also not stand up to high rpm, hp launches. (Comptech makes an upgrade) AS far as the 4G63 and F20-C , they couldn't be more different, FI vs very high RPM.

AS far as the fun factor that really depends on your definition of fun, if you are a stoplight guy and live for the 1320 as 99% of DSM owners do , the S is really not for you. If you search endlessly for country roads and tight corners then the S will own a DSM. There really just two different personalities.

It's really tough to give you much more advise than that. Without answering specific questions. Let me know if there is anyting specifically you would like to know.

Thanks rsx555. You just explained a whole lot more than you think. I'm actually a twisty tight corner kind of guy. I've never been a stop light guy, always a highway runner simply because my car was front wheel drive. It was a GS-t.
I guess the s2k is what I'm looking for. I've tried to do some research on the car but just kept running into how the car is so reliable. Coming from a DSM, that means alot.
I know once I start to mod the hell out of the s2k, the reliability factor will be thrown out the window, however, once I do get the car, it will be my daily driver for the first couple of months.

Yes, when it comes to the reliability factor just about anything will be more reliable than a modded DSM. However when it comes to the HP to $ factor the S definitely has a downside. There are people on this board who will be able to give you a more accurate overview when it comes to more aggressive suspension setup, but I can comment on the motor. Unless you are planning on going forced induction Honda has done a terrific job ringing out 99% of the HP out of the showroom. The S will not respond well to basic bolt- ons. Well, again that really depends on your definition of "well" Being that your a DSM guy though, and are used to gains of 30 hp from a downpipe, 2G mass air sensor, a boost controller, etc., don't expect these kind of numbers from the NA F-20C. Basic bolts on, I/H/E and ECU tuning (AEM) will cost you a decent chunk of change and will net you about 15 hp. It's just a completely different animal than the 4G63.

It sounds like you are in touch with what this car's really all about and that
