I just found this site. Lots of great information. I'm thinking about purchasing an S2000, but it sort of scares me reading about the transmission, clutch, and seat belt problems. Have all of these problems been resolved in the 2001 model?

Yes, as far as we know. And welcome to the site BigRed (are you a Cornell grad by any chance?). I was a first time visitor only 6 months ago, and I now find myself a devotee of this car and the creator of a number of leather and other accessories, even though I don't yet have the car. This machine is that intoxicating. I've had about 6 or 7 rides so far, everyone a thrill. I've refused many offers to get behind the wheel, only because I want my first drive to be with my own, which, I'm praying, will arrive next week.

BigRed:

I have an S2000 that is a model year 2000. It was built later in the model year, and I really believe they took care of the clutch grind by the time my car was made, because it shifts smoothly without a hitch.

The only major complaint I have--as well as most other S2K owners--is the stock stereo. In two words or less, it stinks! Since I upgraded, it sounds much, much better, and I am in Heaven when I'm tooling down the road in my stook, top down, just loving life. Just the other day, a Mercedes 500SL pulled up beside me and wanted to play. Traffic was a little thick, but I obliged him up to about 70 mph to show him that the Mercedes may be plush and luxorious, but it doesn't compare to the S2K in my opinion. If we had been in the twisties (a curvy road), he wouldn't have stood a chance. And the looks I get with the stook, the compliments, and the sheer pride of owning/driving one makes it totally worthwhile!

Good luck.
Kevin

BigRed, If you are a sports car fan or fan of machinery in general, and not into marque image, this car is for you! I have owned a 1986 911 Turbo, and this car is more fun than that was for me.

The S2000 is that special. It turns its owners into fanatics, even those who weren't "car people" before. There is soooo much to love about it.

I am one of the above....never have I paid so much attention to a material thing in my life like I do with my S2K. This car will satisfy every desire you wanted in a roadster and you will still have money left in your bank account. Yes there a few little quirks with the this car but the sheer enjoyment and thrill of revving to 9K and hearing the engine whine like none other you have heard before more than makes up for the quirks. Not to mention the cornering and handling. The quirks are fixable and if you read and learn from what is posted here your love will be that much stronger for this beautiful ride.
