New Member saying hi.
Just wanted to say hi. My name is Steve Kaufman and I'm from SoCal. I currently drive a 2000 MR2 Spyder with TRD Suspension, TRD exhaust, TRD STB's and underbody braces, Autopower Roll Bar, AEM CAI, SSR Competition wheels with Bridgestone S03 Pole Positions, Porterfield Brake pads, steel braided brake lines, Catz Zeta lighting system, JL audio 8.1 microsub, Xtant 404 amp, Polk DX3065 seperates.
I have almost 15 years of racing experience, including numerous karting championships in both clutch and shifter karts as well as the Barber Dodge West series. I also attend track events almost every month. I have been an active poster to the MR2 Spyder board www.spyderchat.com for 2 years.
Believe it or not the one thing that really kept me from buying an S2K the first time was the plastic rear window. Now with a glass unit finally in the 2002 the time might have come for me to join your ranks. The MR2 is a fantastic car. Amazing handler, amazing brakes, amazing fun. But the car lacks power. It could easily handle at least 60 more HP along with an LSD. It's the lack of power and no easy way to correct it that is making me want to upgrade. For the past 9 months we have followed another board memeber's saga of trying to develop a working user installable turbo kit. Recent developments on the kit have left many owners discouraged. With very limited production, aftermarket support is also very scarce for the Spyder. The reality is there are just no big hp gains available for the Spyder.
I have been looking at S2K's, used NSX's, used Porsche 911's, and the Corvette Z06. To me buying a used car is scary. You never know what you are getting. The Vette is awesome but there is just something still very "hairy chested and gold chained" about it and while I can afford the 50K pricetag the financial planner in me says save $17K and leverage that into 1 or 2 more investment properties. That leaves one car. What else but the S2K.
Now I just have to find the right car. Black with red leather just like my Spyder. I hope the long time members here can give me some suggestions on both buying the car and the first mods to get.
Thanks in advance
Steve Kaufman

I saw on the Mother's Import Car Show on Speedvision this guy with a MR2 Spyder with the Vielside body kit. He said Vielside was making a turbo or supercharger for the Spyder that will be coming out in January that will make around 330HP. He said he had the first Vielside body kit in the country from Japan. It made it look like the Boxster.

Welcome raceboy.
Since you came from Spyderchat.com. You must heard of carnutz and Mr G.
I drove carnutz's car in Gingerman. I must say, I don't like TRD Suspension too much. I still like the stock suspension with Hoosier tires.
Nevertheless, good to see you here.
