Default New MY04 Top Latch and Headlamps

One top latch is not perfectly centered on striker, and operates with a loud pop-- is this within tolerance?
PS First experience with contemporary headlamps-- awesomely bright band in total dark conditions, but RH side is slightly higher than LH. Is this misalignment or courtesy to oncoming traffic?

Don't know about the latch.

But as for the headlights, that's normal. You are right, it's lower on the left so you don't blind oncoming traffic and it's higher on the right to illuninate road signs. Would be the opposite setup overseas.

Also, you probably noticed this because of the nice sharp cutoff of the HIDs

Wow! That is a Feature? I always though that it was a bug. In fact, I had been planning to complain about the headlight alignment (on my My04, only a month old) when I took the car in to the dealer for maintenance.

all lighting systems do that, it's just the S2000's system is so well controlled that the effect is exaggerated- it is to read signs and SEE PEOPLE. whatz the mystery?

Drivers side? Mine was this way as well and a number of other members in a thread several months ago had the same thing. I ended up "tweaking" the roof over a bit just by pushing on it from the side (not too hard though ). That lined it up much better and it made it far easier to latch. Also, make sure to either pull down on the center handle or stick your hand out and push down on the corner when you're doing the first latch and it should be cake.

thanks guys, I later did a search and found out. Best not to tweak unnecessarily, I always say! Also, the LH latch had a litlle more play in position, probably the factory fix. Funny so many MY04s have this, maybe they want it tight to allow for future looseness and figure the LH side shd be locked down second (I get the pop more when I start from that side) OR maybe just an old tool to rig cause the other one got packed to move to the new plant. We've all got collector's items, now!

Anybody got any good tips on dealer or shop service in South Bay LA? Just heard a squawk on Norm Reeves...

500 miles under her belt and I'm starting to explore... most fun I've had since the first few hours of soloing a sailplane! Learned to shift on a 6 cyl, a good habit for run-in, but hey! This thing just starts to breathe when the frequency hits where I'm used to upshifting. Learning from Button and Sato audio, unlearning those old cues.

Sorry for bringing up a old thread.

But now that I have my '04 I can comment on the latch thing

Mine does the same thing, when latching the drivers side (left) it makes a pop. Right side doesn't make any noise at all. Doesn't bother me, unless that isn't normal. I have no problems getting the latch (hook) into the receivers

Mine is the same. Use the center handle.

Yes. It should look like a step pattern.
