New owner of 2000 s2000 need to make stereo sound good...please help!!!!
i have from my previous car an alpine 600watt amp and head unit. Is there a converter for the left hand controls that would work on the alpine? Also i bought Boston acoustics
Congrats on the new car! You're going to love it....
....once you fix the mediocre sound. My recommendation is to DEFINITELY put a good quality sub (like a Cadence 10-in. Beast) in the trunk to work with whatever aftermarket speakers you choose for the cabin. One thought: if you'd like to add rear-channel capability AND want to use the dash controls, I'm selling the OEM head unit from my '02 S2000. If you do a search for Dash Controls, you'll find some threads that discuss your options.
Your amp and a good sub will make a TON of difference!

I kept my 00 radio and added mb component front speakers, kenwood 6 1/2 rears, JL stealthbox 10" sub and two Rockford Amps. It sounds Awesome. Can't even hear the motor/exhaust at 9k when the tunes are cranked. Have to shift by feel or watch the tach.
You really need to add rear speakers to the S2000. It works, people love it and BMW has them in their Z3 just like my rear speaker system see link to Z3
Check out my site at www.lucidautomotive.com for various options. A few new models will be added in the next couple weeks.

I'll second that! I just installed Lucid's rear Neo5.1 system and it made a huge difference. (Thanks Lucid)
I had read all the hype about adding the rears for a long time and just felt that since I have to push my seat ALL the way back (I'm 6' 2") I thought it would be a waste of money but boy was I wrong.
I had already installed a PPI PCX-2125 amp driving MB Quart PSD 216's in the doors with a Sony HU but It just never had the full sound I was looking for. The mids seemed to get drowned out with the noise from the car and the road and now with the rear speakers it balances everything nicely. Sounds great at speed with top up or down.

I'm always paranoid about my head unit since it's a rag top. I'd take out a few hundred and upgrade your security system before you start getting into upgrading the stereo. I purchased all my speakers from Lucid, and the rear's are a must. My brother made the comment this weekend how much better the stereo is. With the factory, I could barely hear a CD, but with this, I can hear it good at around 3/4ths of the way going 70mph.
