At the track this weekend, I noticed (again) that the trunk (boot) will accommodate much larger items without the spare tire intruding into it.

Unfortunately, the supplied carpeted trim piece is rigidly formed in the shape of the spare, so it must be removed to gain the additional space. That leaves unfinished surfaces exposed.

For those who have or are considering removing the spare tire from the trunk, something to maintain a finished appearance, but allow use of the space formerly occupied by the spare would be very nice.
