Not that this is meaningless, but all the "92W" means is that the tire has a load rating of 92, and is a W speed rated tire. This has very little to do with whether it's an OEM, or a PP or whatever. They could all be 92Ws.

This same information has been reported by another (Australian) member who visited a Bridgestone plant and talked with the Reps about this very subject!
If the Honda OEM tires are the only ones with the 92W on them, it seems to me that the 92W would be a reliable way to determine that you have the correct tire. As a side note, I just had two new fronts put on. I told the salesman about the confusion with the S02's and that I wanted the right tire. He called his distributor who looked in the book and the book had the word Honda right next to the tires with the 89W and 92W designations. That was good enough for me and as far as I can tell they're the right tires.
I looked at my rear tires and they seem like a close match to the pix that are posted. I dont have a digital camera so I will take a pix of my tires with Polaroid and compare them to pix on post. However, the tread pattern on the rears matches the tread pattern on my original front tires. At any rate, its too late to change now and I will just make sure that when the fronts go I order from same dealer and get same tires as rear. Whew, what a confusing deal [QUOTE]Originally posted by Strike:

I just ordered new rears from Tire Rack. When I told the salesman I wanted a pair of 225/50WR-16 S-02s, he immediately said, "S2000, right?" I said yes, and asked him if these were the exact OE tires. Without putting me on hold to check, or even hesitating, he told me they are. Apparently Tire Rack is now up to speed on this issue.
BTW, the tires were $196 apiece, plus about $4 shipping. Since my original tires are now on the wear bars, I'll get them mounted ASAP.
