You're not really reaching a new redline (which is marked on the tach as a little less than 9K), you just ran it to the fuel cutoff, which is slightly past the redline as indicated.

How did you get a number so exact? Do you have a V-AFC?

My cut-off doesn't seem to really hit until around 9200rpm... (or my tach is wrong). I've downshifted into 2nd at around 72mph...bringing it up to around 9400... (my bad).

I realize that on the downshift...was just making a note on my error... on the up-shift, like I said, mine "seems" to not cut off until a little past 9k..but who knows.

I accidentally did the same thing as the guy with the beemer. I downshifted into 2nd instead of 4th but didnt give it gas while downshifting. I saw the rpm was ok when it happened but when I gave it gas it shot up really fast into redline and then the gas cutoff. So basically I think I downshifted into second at way to hi a speed then the rpm looked fine or hesitated for s plit second until i gave it gas then it shot up like that. Did I damage my engine or valves?
