If they are serious, it will remain a Honda . An Acura sports car would be like a Lincoln Mustang or a Cadallac Corvette. The true sports cars almost always reflect the basic model in the company line.
Actually they don't see the Acura brand like you do.

The Honda brand is moving to become the 'greenest' brand in America (I believe it still currently is). So a sports car doesn't fit with that image. Nor does a 35K sports car.

Acura is an upscale, more powerful line with high price tags. MPG is less critical as they're playing to performance and safety. HP and crash ratings.

So it's a coincidence to stop production after 10 years? Exactly 10 years? True the economy crisis happened in this year, but.....
I don't believe it's the case. And I can't imagine a better car than the S2000 yet. If the 2014 model you are talking about is the new concept car, I'll keep my S... Thank you,
I hope they don't change :
1 - Manual gear box (Please no DSG or SMG like tranny)
2 - Simple yet aggressive (AP2) look ( I don't like fancy like cars) R8 or or
3 - Suspension, chassis, weight distribution...
4 - 9000 RPM GAZOLINE (NO HYBRIDDDDDDDD) It's a sports car ... no need to make it green.
and the list goes on...
I just don't think there would be any better car.
I think they couldn't make it any better, and they had no more imagination.. they hit 10 years.. the economy crisis.. hence.. cease production....
major transition was in 2004.. all other later enhancement were minor...
VSC...duhh.... DBW...who cares... the only advantage of using flashpro in the 2006+ .. and no need kpro will solve it..AEM too..

Honda plans everything. I'm sure they knew how long they were going to run it under varying situations. I'm sure if 40-50k yearly volumes were happening they would have kept up production.

I don't particularly care for the looks of it from the drawings. One thing about the original S2000 is that even 15 years after it's original design was conceived, it still doesn't look dated.

A hybrid engine is that the electric motor can produce 100% of its torque at 0 rpm, this could be used to provide a little extra "grunt" off the line. Depending on how they implement it, it could add to the fun.

[QUOTE=Elistan,Jun 19 2010, 03:15 PM]Obviously none of us have access to Honda's business plan for the S2000, nor the actual returns on the car.

Not necessarily...not if the manufacturer cares about sales.

Why do you think the US got the Integra/RSX? Most Americans believe that an Acura badge is far superior to a Honda badge and I am willing to bet that many Americans do not even realize they are the same cars.
