Default new s2000 guy...care considerations

hey all,

I'm a new s2000 owner and I was looking for some general care guidelines from the masses. I'm not a stranger to sports cars, but this is my first honda/non-european sportscar.

In paricular, I'd be interested in hearing things i shoudl be monitoring on the daily/weekly level as well as considerations on waxes and leather conditions and such.

thanks!

drew

check out the "wash and wax" forum. Zaino seems to be the favorite wax.

if the car is brand new, make sure you check your oil everytime you re-fuel your car. The engine burns thru oil for a while.

Make sure you tighten the gas cap properly after refueling. After you log 600 miles always wait for 3 bars on your temp gauge before going above 5k rpms(before 600 miles don't ever go above 5k rpms)

this is good stuff, thanks guys. ok so:

1) 600 miles is the break in for VTEC? Mines got about 800 miles on it and ive punched it a few times but have been pretty good to it so far. That should be a big deal right? I took it on a trip to vermont to break it in....

2) I did notice those specific instructions about the gas cap and tighten it 3 notches or whatever. I am a big proponent of the warmup time for any car.

any other good tidbits this is great.

Mine is MY02 as a daily driver.

Wax: I use Zainos currently and to be honest I couldn't tell the difference between other waxes I've used (maybe because mine is silver)...still really a good polish...very easy to wipe off.

Leather: I use Lexol Leather conditioner every week. The driver side outer "side-flaps" will be the ones to "go" first (you'll notice in about 3 weeks). I think because mine is a daily driver, mine maybe worse than others. It's okay as long as you do this religiously.

Of couse, pay attention to oil level.

Enjoy.
