400hp from a Type R motor, 8 speed dual clutch automatic...

Those were the same specs that Honda shot down numerous times. I'm going to treat all S2000 like all of the RX-7 rumors for now.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to happen.

Just to save everyone from clicking on the Forbes link.

We have been hearing rumors about a rebirth of the now discontinued Honda S2000 sports car for several years. The company has been mulling over whether market demand would be strong enough to justify it creating an all-new S2000, built in a mid-engined setup similar to that in the mighty NSX. Around three years ago, I remember a Honda engineer asking me whether I thought Honda should make a mid-engined S2000. My response was a neck-snapping nod.

From what we’re hearing now, Honda has finally decided that it will build a new S2000 and that it will get a souped-up version of the Civic Type R’s 2.0-liter turbo powerplant, but in a mid-engined layout and generating upwards of 410hp. Obviously, that would make the coupe rear-wheel-drive and in combination with an 8-speed DCT transmission, the new S2000 would no doubt have Porsche in its sights.

This is going to be one expensive car if it really happens.

The reason I wanted an S was because new cars have too much tech. Kind of strange since I'm an engineer, but I don't want to drive a computer. Any new S will surely follow suit - lane detectors, blind spot monitors, backup cameras, etc. Not to mention my biggest gripe, the infotainment system. I'll stick with my S.

This is indeed strange but thinking about it, I also drive and plan to keep this car for ever due to the same reasons!

not a strange at all. it's because the tech in the newer cars make you feel like you're still at work lol everyone wants to just get in the car and drive in peace

Calling this an S2000 would be an oxymoron.
