Default New to S2000's, have a few questions...

Hey guys, just bought a 2001 S2000 yesterday. It has 14.500 miles, and I love this little thing.

I have a few "newbie" questions that maybe you can help me out with. First what are these little circles on the front and rear bumpers? Second, are there any "free" mods or cheap mods that can be performed on the S2000's to make them quicker, funner, etc. Thanks for the help.

Those little circles pop out and allows your S to be towed out of the ditch. The parts that screw into there are located in the trunk.

There are no free power adders to this car. It cost big $$$ to make it go fast. It's a fun car already in it's stock form.

P.S. Welcome to the board!

No free mods, plenty of cheap mods. You can get a CAI for varying prices, you can get accessories for a personalized look from board sponsors, just surf the board and you'll find out who has what. Be sure to find the secret compartment.

Tow hooks? Cool.

Well the reason for the questions is that my S2K didn't come with a owners manual, just ordered one, but it will take 3 - 7 days for delievery.

Another question, who has upgraded there stereoes and speakers? Can you upgrade the stock stereo and still retain the use of the audio controls by the steering wheel? Who has custom audio systems fitted on the S2K's? I'm not planning on doing too much mods on the S2k, it's more of a daily driver, while my Mustang is for mods.

Any advice you would give on the S2k? And what's this secret compartment you speak of?

Check out this board sponsor for stereo upgrade info:
http://www.lucidautomotive.com/
I've purchased rear speakers and a dash control unit from him to retain the dash control functions with an aftermarket head unit.

Almost everyone has upgraded the sound system because the stock is Horsepucky. There are many ways to go. Lucid is a site sponsor that has a lot of solutions to upgrades. You can still use the OEM controls with a PAC unit. DJQube has an upgrade on the controls he made. Most people start with dropping in better speakers in the doors. That's the easiest cheapest mod. From there the sky is the limit!

The secret compartment: hint....look between the rollbars.

The glove box is one compartment, but there is another "secret" compartment as well! listen to s2000raj's advise.

Are you talking about the "glove box" between the two seats where the button to pop open the trunk is?
