Default New S2K with string exposed?

Hi Folks,

Just picked up my '05 GP White, and noticed that the passenger side door has this string exposed... Would anybody be able to offer insight into what this may be? And why it is hanging out?

disgruntled worker shoved a tampon in your door panel? i've never seen that before, but i don't think that's supposed to be there.

Pull the panel and have a look.

Probably just an assembly issue. This is just one of those charming traits that make the S unique. You have to remember that unlike the typical computer-controlled-automated-assembly that say, an Accord goes thru, The S2000 is hand assembled. As I walk around mine, and every other S I have seen, I can see where body panels and welds are not as close to perfect as other cars I have owned, and on the road the car makes all kinds of unique sounds. How do I feel about it? I love it, the car is unique and has true personality. Is it perfect? No, but it drives like hell, looks great, and should last a long time. Forget about it, drop the top, and go have some fun.

Congratulations and enjoy.

I've had a very similar looking string hanging from my door for the past 2 years (since I bought the car, new). I've just ignored it, and refrained from pulling on it for fear that the whole car will fall apart.

Seriously, I've just left well enough alone and figure that the string won't hurt anything.

In case of emergency: PULL!
Just pop that door panel clip and trim.

Just tuck it under the trim - if you pull it, the whole S2000 might unravel.

dont pull the string until the end of the quarter mile. It is your parachute deployment string. it turns the soft top into a parachute for extreme braking.

Hilarious. Thanks for all the replies. I think I may pop the door panel just to take a look.

The string is leftover from a PDI (pre delivery inspection). The door normally comes covered in a plastic wrap, and a careless tech did not remove the entire cover. Pull it out, I promise your car won't fall apart.
