New T-Bird an S Killer?
from what i've heard, the new T-bird is nothing to write home about. Unless of course you just bought one because then you'll need to write home begging for a loan to buy an S2K.
In all seriousness, i've read that it's way overpriced, not a good ride, and will be in the shop more than the road.

S2000 killer?? Maybe, in a straight line.
But they're just different type of cars.
If you want to be like the backstreet boys, you get the T-bird.
If you want to be like Senna, you get the S.

No offense to Backstreet boys fans.

The new T-bird has a V-8 that makes 252 bhp, and 267 lb-ft torque. Road and Track provided these numbers. The test weight of the car was 3940 lbs! 0-60 in 7.0 and 1/4mi at 15.2 @ 93.5 mph. The car is fairly long, the trunk is a lot longer than the S2000.

3940 POUNDS?! Holy crap!? What did they make that thing out of....lead?!?

I have seen one of these in person at the Chicago Auto Show. Kinda dorky looking, IMO. Front end and interior is pretty retro, ala the T-bird of the 50's.
In short, no, no egos out of sorts here...this version of the venerable T-brid is not going to take the S2000 (or many other cars for that matter!) anytime soon!

They had a demo days of the new T-bird, I got to give it a test drive. Well this is not exactly a sports car, it is more like a sporty luxury car. Nice interior, but it is much bigger than I would like. I think that its target market is a mature audience. It reminded me of the TT. A nicely appointed bovine.
