I think I'm the only soul that remembers this. I dyno'd my S2000 to a top speed of 165mph @ 9000rpm. The dyno measured 165mph, while the speedometer incorrectly measured 171mph @ 9000rpm. Also of note that the measured torque at that high a gear from 7000rpm's on was less than 105 ft/lbs. I find it very hard to believe, unless it was a very cold night and heading slightly downhill or following another vehicle to cut down on aero drag that this speed is accurate.

Just my tres centevos

Well if you got that onthe dyno, then I will belive its possible gear and tire wise. That means you need more power to get to it. Swiss, if I may ask, what modifications have you done to your car?

ALSO, are Euro S2000's with the 240hp engine, or the 248 Jap spec?

I dont know how accurate is the speedometer
but a friend of mine did reach the speed of more than 270kmh with a stock car, front and rear spoiler(from Honda) and the hardtop on.
No downhill, autobahn from Frankfurt to Essen,night,23celsius.
(Yes he still alive :) )

Hey Swiss2k,
Which autobahn were you on. The one just north of Basel?

Have you had any tickets in Switzerland?

That's it I'm gonna prove it tommorow on the 407 toll rd. See what this puppy can do. I did have it up to 240kph and it still had more.

Mindcore,
This I have to see. Not for the speed but for the traffic :)

How do you figure that? With the amount of torque available with that gear, weight of the car (2700+), and the massive amount of aerodynamic drag at that speed (so great that if you cupped your hand and stuck it out, you risk losing your arm), I believe 155 to be attainable easily, but it would take forever for the car to crawl up from 145. The S2000, as shapely as it is, is not blessed in the aerodynamic drag department...I believe someone said something about .39? My rule of thumb is that if it takes you more than 4 seconds to climb 1mph, then you have attained your highest mph. Anything more than that is a humungous strain on the motor, and you need a LOT of road to make it to it's rev limited top speed.

Ya I know Geordie, The traffic is usually pretty bad. I'll probably do it in the middle of the night. when I did 240 it was just for a few seconds but I want to try and snap a picture of it this time. I also don't want to get nailed by the chopper. Remember that guy in the ITR last summer. Broke the record for highest speeding ticket. I don't want to join that club :)

I am not sure about this but i seemed to think that our Coefficient of drag was 0.31. I don't know where i saw it, maybe "my dreams" :D I searched everywhere and am coming up blank, anyone know a credible source for this info?

Thanks
