About a month ago, I was driving to Richmond for a "mini-meet" and following a Civic. All of a sudden, BAMN!!! I hear something smack the windshield but see nothing! About 5 minutes or so later, I see this crack emerge and it continues to grow.

Amazingly, I stayed calm! Something like this would usually have me remembering AgS2K's anger management courses. So, I played in Richmond and returned home. I filed the incident via my insurance and thankfully, I had no deductible to meet.

I've read where folks paid $300 and $500 for the replacement but this one was running in the neighborhood of $800! Of course, that may be a little inflated for the insurance company too, not sure.

Here's my pics. . .

The crack. . .

The new windshield waiting to be installed. . .

OMG!!! The installer says. . ."they call this a cold knife."

The corners prove to be a tad resistant. . .

Sealent is GOOD!

And just like that. . .voila!

Simply amazing and I watched with absolute interest as the job was completed!

I bet that guy goes home with a stiff neck!

Couldn't you have put the top down for him?

Did you replace the glass with the same type as the original or did you upgrade to "bullet-proof"?

$800?! Even 500 seems steep. I got a ding in the center of the winshield last weekend. I did get the plate of the truck which had dirt and rocks falling from it. Do I have any chance of compensation?

And what about your stickers?

I kinda like the car w/o the windsheild lol.

No more chips or cracks and you would never have to spend money on food again. You could just drive around with your mouth open and chow down on some bugs

That is really cool that he did that right there in your driveway......I would have been pacing back and forth if he was doing that to my car!

Did you use the soft and lightweight OEM windshield or another type?
