Default Newb Here - Need some purchasing advice

Greetings all,

I'm coming from a G35 sedan and a Yamaha R1 Sportbike. Looking to save some money and have just as much fun.

Here's the dilemma:

I bid on an S2000 on Ebay and much to my surprise, I won.

2001 White on Red Leather with one owner, clean carfax, 44k miles for $15,900.

So this sounds a little too good to be true. A friend who's a wholesaler told me that a clean carfax does not necessarily connote no damage. The car's in Florida and I'm in Oregon.

A) Not sure I'm comfortable with this transaction. Would you be? What would you do to protect yourself.

B) I just looked at an S2000 last night locally that I would rather have.

Advice and Help much appreciated,

Thanks

i wouldn't buy it sight unseen......can you get over there to take a look at the vehicle? if not can you at least have it checked out by an independent party?
btw that price isn't completely outrageous for a ebay auction
you mighta just gotten lucky

I posted that I owned it because I won the auction. So I guess I own it but it is not in my possession yet. Also, because the seller has sold so many cars on Ebay, square-trade offers a 5 year 100,000 warranty, bumper to bumper. That is definitely some peace of mind.

The idea of having a forum member in FL go check it out is great. I will post up another thread on that one.

Thanks for the input.
