Newbie Daily and road course Questions
New to S2000 but I was thinking about getting one for daily driver/High Performance Driving school use. I have a few questions,
1. Would a supercharged S2000 be reliable on a road course in Florida (Hot)?
2. I would think I need big brake kit, pads, brake fluids, anything else?
3. Any specific year I should look for? I like to keep the cost low of course
4. Is the car easy to drive on the road course?
I want a fun car at the road course but I also don't want to get blown away by everyone.
Thanks,

I will be running same street tires on the track. Basically I will track the daily set-up. I am not worry about a few seconds with R compound as mainly go track and do the best I can. I am okay on the track, definitely no expert.
I heard it is a great handling car didn't know it was a handful. I have already had accident before on road course before so I have to do more research to see if this is the car for me.
Thanks for the feedbacks

From what i've heard, the s2k is one of the hardest stock rwd cars to drive. i know plenty of people who have crashed theirs on mountain roads but then again thats mountain.
and there is no such thing as a good car that is cheap. but if you have 12-15k to spend on buying one then have about 3-4k saved up as a emergency plan/maintenance i figure you should be good.

Have you looked in the FI subforum at all?
If you're new to the S then drive it and get familiar with it stock. Then worry about mods. Whether you're "blown away by everyone" or not shouldn't be your concern. An instructor in a stock Miata would probably blow you away in your supercharged S if you're new to the S. More power won't help you to learn to drive the S properly.

Yes I have visited FL subforum. I was thinking I could save some money by buying one already modded with supercharger, BBK, etc vs buying a stock one and mod one myself. It is easy to say don't worry about getting blown away, but hard to do. I have been to many tracks in which people won't point you by.
It is not like I haven't track before as I have done over 10+ events and only got passed once. I just want something get good gas mileage, reliable and able to track. I realize that means a supercharger with low psi to keep engine, clutch and transmission alive!
It can be. It can also be unreliable.

Back to the original post. By supercharging this engine, are we sacrificing a significant amount of longevity? Mine just past 100K and it's been as reliable as a rock..
Satten, I'm not sure why this car would be considered "hard to drive", unless your friends didn't take the time to become accustom to it's traits.. It's the most surefooted car I've ever driven and I'm far quicker in it on all my favorite roads, than any car I've owned, including some Corvettes I didn't own (at least in the corners).

He wasn't talking about the FL subforum. He meant FI as in Forced Induction.
I'm not an expert but tracking a supercharged S2000 in Florida heat just doesn't sound like it will be anywhere near close to stock reliability. If you are skilled mechanically it shouldn't be a problem to maintain though.
