Default Newbie with a few questions.

Hey guys I just joined up; although, I am pretty active on a few other honda forums. I have a few questions. I have been thinking about selling my 08 TSX in favor for a 06+ S2000. I know going from a sedan to a 2-seater will be quite a change, but I think I can manage while only being 19, and I believe this would be the best time in my life to have a 2-seater. How is this car as a DD? I am 5'9" so I think i'd fit just fine in it. What are the major pros/cons of having a 06+? If I do decide to buy one, I'd be worried about trying to find one that hasn't been raced or molested.

Thanks again,

Daniel.

Here is a link to one of my fav threads on what to look for in an S:

By MY06, most of the bugs have been worked out so they are pretty reliable. Lots of people use them as DD, just need a good set of second tires, depending on where you live. Also, be sure to check out insurance costs. Good luck.

I daily drive my S2000 and I have no complaints; other than on long trips I get a little annoyed by the noise of my car. But that is because I do have a loud single exhaust as well as a CAI; but how can you stay mad at something that soundx so beautiful right? Btw i'm 5'11 and 156 pounds; I believe this car was designed for individuals around this height area I am so comfy sitting in my S. I pro of having an +06 is one will have VSA which is basically traction control for our somewhat tail happy high reving machines. Hope this saves you from joining the "spun out" club. A good note with especially this car and any car is don't drive around with bald tires or near balding tires. There have been so many accidents especially on the S due to this.

If you do not want a car that has not been raced or molested then get a used one from a dealer those things are usually all stock. I lucked out on mine I found a garage queen which is an 04 Suzuka Blue and I walked out paying 19k total out the door. The previous owner only put down 15k miles.

In the short time I've owned my 06, it's been my DD and great so far. Bought mine CPO stock from a dealer. 2006 was the first year for VSA, DBW throttle, AP2v2 wheels, roll hoop speakers, solid headrest seats, and a few other things. I'd prefer seats with the helmet holes, but other than that I like the 06+ upgrades.

I've found an 06 with under 10k miles at a dealership for $22.5k. How good of a deal is that?

I paid 26 for my 07 with 12k miles from Florida (USD). That was almost a year ago. I think you can do better, but I would pay more for a car that checks out clean and makes you happy.

yeah DD mine here with no problems. My car is up to 113k and have had zero issues so far.
Drive it back and forth from FL and NY so see's LOTS of driving.
I def think you can find a better deal but just make sure it's one your happy with and confident it is clean and trouble free.

Don't know where you are but here is a link to a car here in OH, very clean, very well-maintained. If nothing else, give you an idea of the market for MY06:

I'm in Tennessee. The closest one i've found that I liked was about 75 miles away. Would you guys suggest getting the OEM hardtop? I've heard bad stories about the soft-top.

It's a convertible, why bother with a hardtop?

I DD my 06, even in snow (with snow tires of course). My soft top has held up very well, considering it's seen rain, snow, sleet, and everything you can imagine that falls from the sky. It's one of my best decisions in my life so far. Insurance for me isn't bad, because 1) I am old, 2) married, and 3) no points on license. It's just slightly more than my previous 05 Jetta GLI.

Go find one you like!
