Newbie here. Looking at an S2000
I'm 6'2" and fit quite well, good leg room. I just took a test drive in a used S2000 and have some advice.
First by all means take her out for a test drive. Dealers like to pre-sell the car so they don't have to waste time on people that aren't really interested. They may not have a new S2000 on hand and if they do may not want you to test drive it. My impression is this car you are looking at may be getting a lot of test drives on it. This is not good because people can abuse a car on a test drive. Also with 3000 miles it may not have been broken it properly and you may never be able to get the full HP out of the engine. Also it may be a lemon or may have been abused. If the clutch goes on you it may not be covered.
So if you really like it and it looks perfect, you may want to make an offer, but make it a low offer like $31K. Otherwise I would start looking for a new example that you can break in right. You can look at a lot of dealers even out of state if necessary. You may have to wait a few months but then you will be getting a 2003. I personally would not pay over MSRP. It sounds like they are asking MSRP of a new car for a used car, I don't like that.

The S2000 has sufficient head-room for taller drivers, so that should not be a problem. The price is too high. Brand new = $32k + $3k for hardtop = $35k less loss in value with 3k miles = $32k OR less in my opinion. Do test drive it, and drive it hard cause its broken in by now. Also, do a search about handling, several folks report difficulty in the rainy season, while others say its bull... you need to be aware you may need to change the tires.
This is a used car from a private party. I called the guy last night and was very nice to him. I asked him how long he has had the car advertised. He said "FOR ONE WEEK,WHY!!!" If I was quick witted enough I would have explained to him that if his car had been advertised for a month already that he may be asking too much. Anyway he had a real foul attitude. I asked him why he was selling it and he said that he bought a corvette. Do you think he wanted more torque? He may have wrung that poor engine out prior to break-in. Obviously he doesn't care about quality sheesh.

I'm 6'0 and headroom can be an issue for me sometimes. I had to sell my Audi S4 because of it. Does the S2000 have a good amount of headroom?

Good luck with your search. The S is a great car if taken care of properly.
most people that buy another car will include their old car in the package. I think the vette dealer offered a fair price knowing they had to re sell it at a profit not a loss. This guy must have an inflated idea of the car's value. If he's asking MSRP for used what does that mean a new one is worth MSRP + $5k? Three years ago he might have been right, but a friend of mine bought one at MSRP, he said the dealer had 6 of them on the lot, so they are not the rarity they once were.
