Newbie looking for information
Hi, this is my first post on this board. My new car search has been long and painful.
I currently own a '92 Acura Legend and have been searching for a '94-95 Legend Coupe 6spd for 8 months, I've given up
. Along the way, I've also looked at CL-S, then IS300, then TL-S and the 330ci. Just when I decided the 330ci is my car. I've been told that I need 2 give the S2k a look. I thought, hey, if I don't buy a convertible now, when will I ever enjoy it ? So, upon many research, I've decided to give a serious consideration to it. I think I'm close to make that my decision...however, I have some questions.
When does the 2002 model come out? New colors?
What better options/improvment will there be?
I just learned how to drive a stick shift fairly recently and not too great at it yet, is the s2k a good first manual car?
What prices can I get the car for in the VA/MD/DC area?
Is this car useless in the winter months?
any help or comments is appreciated.

does anyone have a remote idea what kind of blue it is? any sample pix would be great
is it possible for it to be this blue: http://home.worldcom.ch/~dancod/pictures/s2000_48.jpg
?
also, for DC metro area members, which dealers do you guys recommend? I stopped by fairfax honda, they had nothing. and

The Suzuka Blue is a lighter blue. From the paint sample, it kind of reminds me of the light metalic blue you see on every other Z3. Your dealer should have the trim and paint guide for the 2002 models and you can judge for yourself.
There is also a new silver coming out. Sebring Silver. It was availabe on the NSX for a while.
As was mentioned, the car is fine in the snow, the tires are very bad. Get a set of Blizzaks for the winter and you should have a decent four season car.
One word of advice. Don't let your dealer talk you into anything above MSRP-$32,740. There are plenty to be found at that price.
Thanks for the tip nick, i'll definitely hold my ground at MSRP.
i've very disappointed with the monte carlo blue not being available. I think the Z3 blue is 2 played out!
I think the only remaining suitable color for me is the new sebring silver
i have a question on the hardtop, i heard its a dealer installed option? for $3000? is this still valid for 2002? is it comparable to the SLK top and functioning? Do you guys think this is worth it?
I understand that you can get snow tires for the car, how much does it cost to get it (+ installation)? is it alot of work to switch snow and stock tires yourself? I'm no mechanic...
if you add in $33k to $3k hardtop , snow tires, new speakers, this car going to be in the loaded 330ci range... maybe s2k isn't that much cheaper after all

from the sound of it, maybe you don't really want this car after all. there are many fun cars that are tons more practical than the s2k. have you considered an S4 for example?
as for the hard top...ummm no, it will not be like an SLK...it's not retractable!

S4? uhm, i like a reliable car =)
omg, i didnt know that the hard top is a FIXED top, i thought it's still a convertible but with a hard top that can be retracted...
dag, i was wondering how that'd work
no way, i'll go w/ the soft top, let the sunshine thru!
man, learning something every hour
the reason i sound so worried is because I'm going to be using this car as a daily driver, and i'm concerned i wont be able 2 have transportation during the winter months here.

VA winter days aren't so bad with snow (only several times), but it has alot of freezing rain, where snow mix w/ rain.
Now, I've read alot of articles where the s2k sticks to wet pavment well. and rainy days aren't a problem... but i guess snow/ice is a different story.
My other question is how many ppl buy/lease?
BMW's are often leased than not. But i have a feeling more ppl buy their s2k than lease.
if you leased, what were your specs? Residual? monthly fee? money factor? months? downpay?
Thanks!
