Default Newer AP2s have top/cloth issues?

I have a 2008 and the metal parts of the top's frame don't feel very sharp to me. Did Honda improve the metal frame work of the newer cars tops? Or is it just my imagination?

I have a 2007 and I have been all over my frame's metal parts and have not been able to find any protrusions that would cause problems with the soft top as has been described by others on this site. Perhaps by 2007 they had had enough claims from earlier models that they got around to dealing with the problem.

The TSB (09-033) was released in May of 2009 and it affects pretty much all 2005 to 2009 models. Maybe you guys just got lucky.

Most likely was filed down accordingly to the TSB. You purchase your S used? If you purchased it new and the frame was smoothed out then it was noticed by honda and fixed before they had those on the market.

My 05 frame has been filed and smoothed down. I'm the second owner so may have been handled with the previous owner or maybe honda dealt with this issue in 05 also.

Actually, from my years on this forum, it seemed the rough frame leading to cuts in the top was more of a problem in the middle years of the S's production. Tears will eventually happen due to use but rough frames were cutting into tops very early in their useful life - a problem people didn't complain about in the first few years.

I've got a 2007 and my top is complete garbage - par for the course.

Yep, I purchased my 08 used. It has 7k miles on it currently so I assume it is too early to tell how my top is gonna hold up. But yeah, the frame isn't very rough at all. The previous owner had all books and records and there is nothing mentioned about the TSB....

I got my 08 in February used and there were very rough spots on the frame in the usual trouble spots. Enough to cut a small hole on one side and wear halfway through on the other, so I got both sides patched. I sanded the frame down to be less jagged so either your previous owner took care of it already or you lucked out.
