Well, I've just seen the show. I thought it was very disappointing. The VW Phaeton got top billing and the S2000 was relegated to a shorter review.

They listed all of the changes and showed some footage of the S2000 in motion.

I really can't recalll anything noteable about the piece & I saw it just 15 minutes ago. Nothing of consequence.

They don't hate the S2000, but they didn't seem to rave about it either.

MotorWeek is MotorWeak!

The test car was Suzuka Blue.

The most interesting comment was that it turned faster lap times than either the RX-8 or the 350Z (both being on the show next week it sounds like).

I just read the Motor Trend magazine article comparing the three cars. They actually had a lot of good things to say about the S2000, but it still placed third. The RX8 got first.

 

I think it was appropriate considering the Phaeton is a brand new car and the S2000 received a few minor changes.

This explains why the 2004 S2000 only took up one page reviews in car mags.

The spot on the show has nothing to do with Motorweek's enthusiasm for the car. I think the review was appropriate in scope.

However, I would have preferred they skip the review and add the S2000 next week's show comparing all three vehicles (RX-8 and 350Z).

They could have said just about everything they said about the 2004 S2000's changes in one breath, and then go right to the track with the Mazda and Nissan (hopefully the convertible).

They already said the Honda beat the others at the track... leaving us drool for the S to be put in the mix.
